buttermilk onion bread

This onion bread stays fresh for a long time and is a hearty base for ham, sausage and cheese. With this recipe you can easily bake an onion bread yourself.
servings: 1 Bread

That is needed

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 500 ml buttermilk
  • 100 g roasted onions
  • 1 Dice yeast, fresh
  • 1 TL salt
  • 1 TL Sugar
  • 1 pc. Ei

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Die Hefe zerbröseln und mit Zucker und Salz mischen. Umrühren, bis die Hefe aufgelöst ist.
  • Sift the flour, add the buttermilk, fried onions and the dissolved yeast and knead with a dough hook.
  • Place in a greased, floured loaf pan and leave to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • After the rising time, whisk the egg and brush it over the dough.
  • Bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for 40 to 50 minutes. Keep an eye on the browning!

Alternative: Baking without convection

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C using top and bottom heat.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, then turn off the oven and leave to rest for another seven minutes with the door slightly open (e.g. with a wooden spoon between the two).
Notes
Allow the bread to cool completely before cutting. Enjoy!
